Nicole finishes fifth in Formula Regional Americas debut

Canadian driver Nicole Havrda exceeded expectations in her first Formula Regional Americas race, held at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Saturday saw the BC teenager qualify and finish a fine fifth in her debut with top team Kiwi Motorsports.

Unfortunately, during Sunday’s first race (the second of the weekend) Nicole was forced to retire her Ligier JS F3 under freak circumstances, when her fire extinguisher discharged during the race.

The team rallied for the third and final race of the weekend, with Nicole once again finishing fifth, after a battle that saw her fighting for third.

“[I was] battling super hard for third. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make the move stick,” she said.

“Thanks to everyone at Kiwi Motorsports, my partners and for everyone welcoming me so nicely to the series.”
