Nicole Battles Through Illness at Buttonwillow

As Nicole Havrda and her team made their way to Buttonwillow, for back-to-back races, the young BC native was still suffering from the fever and illness that hit her just before the previous weekend’s event. In fact, Nicole’s condition was so bad it prevented her from taking part in Saturday’s qualifying. There were even serious doubts that she would even be able to race at all.

Nevertheless, Nicole put on a brave face as she lined up at the back of the grid for the first race of the weekend. The race saw Nicole battling her way through the field, to finish a fine fifth.

Sunday’s qualifying saw Nicole feeling maybe slightly better, and she managed to qualify with, what should have been, an excellent second. Unfortunately, grid positions ended up being determined by combining both qualifying sessions. This meant that Nicole lined up sixth on the grid.

Still suffering from the effects of her illness, Nicole fought hard, just missing out on the podium to finish an excellent fourth.
